Well, I'm new to blogging, incase you could't tell ;) But, I have a lot to say. At least I have lots on my mind. So, why not put those thoughts on paper, or should I say a blog! Not really sure where to start...or what I'll blog about...so we'll just see where things take us.
I guess I'll start with a little background about myself.
As the title reads, you guessed it, I am from Cape Breton (for those of you who don't know where that it, it is a beautiful, picturesque island that is part of Nova Scotia, on the east coast of Canada). However, I currently live on the mainland of NS. I have a loving, caring, handsome husband who is my very best friend, Chris. Also, you got it, I am a momma of a (currently) 13 1/2 month old beautiful little girl, Ava.
My family is my LIFE. My husband, daughter, parents, sister, grandparents and extended family mean the world to me. My cousins often say "I always thought our family was the norm", but it's quite opposite. We're not the norm, we're the uncommon kind of crazy that only some are truly blessed to have. Where grandparents are like second parents, and cousins are like siblings. Where growing up just houses away is a gift not a hinderance. Fate makes us family, choice makes us friends. And speaking of friends, I have some pretty great ones. Ones you can share anything with, ones that listen, that tell you how it is, that would do anything for you; ones you don't see for months, yet when you're together it's like you were never apart. I love you all <3
I want this blog to be honest and sincere. Just little stories from everyday life. Its challenges, its successes, the good times, the not so good, the special memories, etc. And I want to share that with my close family & friends. Many of you live hours away from us, so just think of it as another way to keep tabs on me, on our life!
It may not necessarily be about all things great, because life isn't perfect, not even mine. My house gets messy. I eat take out on occasion. I have flab. I turn on the tv to occupy my infant so I can eat lunch. My husband and I argue about minor things. I breakdown every now and then. I hate being alone when hubby goes on course/tour. I hate the fact we don't live in Cape Breton. I'm jealous of those that do and make things work. My life isn't perfect, BUT, it's perfect for me and we are happy - that's what matters most.
So, let's see. This past year in a nutshell:
Parenting is HARD with lots of challenges, from having to learn everything from changing diapers to feeding, nap time schedules, removing a pacifier, dealing with a food allergy, many sleepless nights. Yet, there are so many joyousness moments: the first time Ava sat up by herself, her first foods, her first crawl, her first tooth, standing up, cruising around, and most recently her first steps!!! Add to this, the transition from being a working lady to going on mat leave (which I wouldn't change for the world), going from dual to single income, losing the adult socializing of the workplace and friends, a changed physical appearance (unfortunately childbearing causes you to gain a bit of weight that's very difficult to lose, who knew!), plus trying to be a "perfect" housewife keeping a clean and tidy home and having hot meals on the table...it really is a lot to manage! Therefore, gives me a lot to write about :) So, as I said, I want this blog to be honest and for it to allow me to share some stories with you.
I know, time is precious and you have a gazillion other things to do in the run of a day. So, I would like to THANK YOU in advance for taking a few minutes out of your busy day to read this. I enjoyed writing this post, so hopefully we're in luck!
